As far as Uxbridge we had been escorted by the Metropolitan police. Thames Valley police refused to do the same, so to avoid the danger of the fast roads to Slough it was decided to go along the canal

so it was quite a strange sight - a long single file of protesters on the towpath - still we had some good chats with canal users

and as we got near Slough we got a grand welcome from a canal bridge *
