Iran exiles have been in Camp Asraf in Iraq for many years. But now residents have been subjected to vicious attacks by the Iraqi police and 36 hostages have been taken.

Since the Shia Iraqi Government has taken over Camp Ashraf from the Americans it is believed the influence has grown of Iran's governing regime(s), who naturally hate their exiles for opposing them. This has led to the violence and hostage taking.
