Todmorden, Lancashire or is it Yorkshire? It seems a confused town with both a Lancashire postal address and membership of Lancashire Cricket League, an Oldham postcode, a Rochdale telephone area code but is in the West Yorkshire local authority of Calderdale. What I do know is I was very impressed on first coming north to see washing hanging across the street in Hebden Bridge and in Todmorden in 2008 I saw that this wonderful tradition lives on. *
