During a small detour inland to get to the first ferry at Hambleton I came across this very unusual unmanned level crossing

as can be seen in this photo the rails cross the road and then disappear into a hedge!

Down the hill in the picturesque village of Hamble to the shore and the Pier.
But no signs relating to the ferry or the times it sailed.
The I saw a litlle movement in the pink boat that was moored to the pier.
On investigation this turned out to be the ferry which runs not to specific times but when anybody turns up - I couldn't have asked for a better service

I loved the pinkness of the ferry and enroute we passed another pink boat. I thought it was a spare ferry but on reflection it looks kitted out for other duty. I just suspect it has the same owner.
