Co-ordinated by George Fairbrother of Sussex Peace Alliance, the Flame of Hope was taken from Dover to Portsmouth, with different groups acting as a relay.
I planned to cycle it all, slowly behind the walkers. After Portsmouth George is taking the Flame to New York for the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) talks in May where he will engage with many diplomats.
Here, at Emsworth, three generations of Peace Marchers.

Dover to Lydd
Dave & Pam accompanying me at the start of the ride on the Saturday morning.
Dave and Pam kindly put me up Friday night, enabling me to dry out from the soaking on the Romney Marshes enroute to Dover

Dave took this photo of me near Capel le Ferne. He accompanied me to the top of Folkestone's 550 foot Dover Hill but wisely declined as he'd then have to cycle back up it to get home!
For me though from Folkestone it was then a flat ride to Lydd, via Hythe and across the seemingly endless Romney marshes. *

when I got to Lydd there was a welcome party outside the parish church
